GIGA Newsletter – August 2008

And we’re ready to punch the Olympic pause button again, and get rolling. We’ve put our time to good use by preparing our next escapades – see below – and by working on a new (yes, more functional, and yes soon to be Chinese) website. Veterans of our newsletter may already notice a new look to the whole thing. A prelude, of sorts.

Grant Horsfield of Naked Retreats will present how sustainability has informed the lifestyle and design process at their remote getaway in Moganshan. Naked Retreats is unique: it holistically considers and responds to building, economic, and social sustainability issues. This small scale project serves as a model for larger scale developments.

A brief technical discussion on developing green heating and cooling will precede the lecture. We recommend you to RSVP, but feel free to bring along colleagues, friends or fellow eco-munists.

Talk about worth the wait; frog design Founder and Lead Designer, Hartmut Esslinger will be presenting some of frog design’s green product developments and his own current on-going green research. Mr. Esslinger’s presentation will follow with an open, critical discussion of green design issues.
